BR on 18th OR interview today - Thanks

Options
Hello everyone,

Firstly thanks to everyone's help on this fantastic forum, I went BR yesterday and had OR interview today here is our little story....

Arrived at court at 9.55am for 10am hearing, the clerk went through all the paperwork, took the money, then I had to swear on the bible, I was taken to the judge by 10.45, and had a lady judge - who was very understanding, and after checking a few details, declared be BR and then kindly wished me and my family a "bright and happy financial future"

Everyone at the court was non judgemental and helpful. All of which made the process as smooth as it could be , everything was done by 11.30 as I had to wait for papers to come back down from the judge.

Now the nervous bit.. I was advised that OR would call me today for interview, which he did.

I have to say he was very professional and friendly, he explained every step of the procedure, and basically rn through each page of the court documents, a few questions here and there, but primarly ours was a fairly straightforward case of a large drop in income in the last 6 months coupled with high mortage and around 20k worth of credit cards/loans. Soa was fairly accurate he did make some comments, reducing electric, and clothing - but did then add in extra for a mobile (as I workaway) he also added 20% to my petrol allowance. In short we had not enough excess income for a payment, and he has simply asked for me to return a form which will be sent this week and to return all credit/bank cards.

He also mentioned, although not promised that we may get an ED in around 6 months.

He also said he had NO interest in informing the landlord of our property.

This was not a decison that we made lightly, although we did make a decision quickly to go this route, as it soon became apparent there was no advantage to keep swimming against the tide.

Thanks to all the info freely given on this board, we were well prepared, and familair with what to expect of the process, and this made a very stressful situation, bearable.

I hope others experience the same support and kindess that we have done, not only on this board but also with the court personel and OR that we have dealt with.

Here's hoping for a brighter future and with a new tot on the way for Easter, a fresh start to build from.

Thanks Again

BP x

I'm so happy it went well for you broadpaws. It just goes to show that SOA's are not a science. Your OR sounded very reasonable too! Good job also that they aren't going to inform your landlord although that wouldn't be the end of the world but its just one less thing to worry about!

It seems like this was all so quick. I still don't feel as if my OR has finished with me yet as I haven't heard from him for ages but I like to think no news is good news!
