Equifax Credit Report
::OMG::
Posts: 92 Forumite
Hi .. hoping someone will be able to help me here.
I recently had my credit card limit reduced, and the letter stated I should contact Equifax by sending them two pounds ... so I did.
Today, I have recieved a letter from them stating I should fill in the enclosed form OR could go online and for the reduced rates of about a fiver, I could obtain an instant Equifax On-line Credit Report or a Credit Rating Report.
I feel that I have been stung ... what was the £2 for? Could anyone tell me if I should splash out for either of their online ones, if so which one, and are they any better than the one that they may send to me by post anyway?
Hope this makes sense ....
Thanks in advance

The enclosed form is to give them information on the date of birth, name, etc. It should be worded along the lines of paid for.
They will then send you your credit report. Don`t pay the fiver - they have to supply your credit report on paper for £2.00. It is your legal entitlement.
You may wish to think about doing the same for the Experian and Call Credit (though the latter are rubbish, in my opinion) to give you the broadest possible information about what is held on you.
I found when I sent off for my credit files, that they did supply them, but made it as difficult as possible and took their time.
Nonetheless, I got them.

Thanks for that fudgecat. I presume from that, that the £2 paper one is exactly the same as the £5 one I could get from their website.
I have to say that I am reluctant to send them anymore info about me ... you just never know where it will end up, and in who's hands.0
