Child Benefit On Soa

Options
Can I just check that when completing the SOA we would include CB and WFTC on the SAO of me and not OH as I recieve it, along side our wages.

But I thought that I read somewhere on here that CB is not counted as income when they decide if you should have an IPO or not. Or did I imagine that. If I didn't imagine it for 4 children our CB is about £200 a month. Would that mean that if at the end of working out our SOA we had £200 surplus that it would be cancelled out and effectively be nil as that £200 would be equal to the CB......OR HAVE I GOT COMPLETELY THE WRONG END OF THE STICK ON THIS?

Also does that mean that WFTC/CB have to go on my SOA as it is paid to me or could we put in on OH's as it is paid to this household even if the giro is in my name?

I don't have our SOA's ready yet.

You include it in your income, but it can't be used to calculate an IPA, which means your surplus can be £299 (£200 cb + £99) before they can take an IPA

  • Thanks peachy.............that is the one bright spot so far on my day today...if you have read everything I keep posting on here you will know that everytime something else pops into my mind it is not straightforward (nothing we ever do is) and requires more questions and stress.

  • I am being a bit dumb and am fairly new to forum. How much surplus can you have before they impose an IPO ? IPA???
  • Bailesy27 - i new too but having to learn fast.......as per peachys post to me you have to have £100 surplus for them to impose an ipo. Hence Peahys post to me

You include it in your income, but it can't be used to calculate an IPA, which means your surplus can be £299 (£200 cb + £99) before they can take an IPA

my cb is worth about £200 a month so I can have £299.00 surplus made up of £99 general surplus and £200 of cb before they could impose an IPO....or at least that is how i understand it.
