Help RE: Council Tax Baliffs

:embarasse Just paid £200 off my C/Tax which was what I thought was outstanding on my bill with the baliffs, they have now told me another £176 of charges!? What can they legally charge? What can I do now? I had a letter from then and 1 visit from the baliff where he dropped something through my door. I can't afford to pay those charges

Hi
have a look at Herbie's web-site. I doubt if those figures are correct, unless you have let him into the house to do an inventory?
There could be court fees as well as bailif fees, though.

Once you have read the info on the web-site, come back here. If necessary, ring Herbie on the number on the web-site.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
The court fees were included in the £200 - The council charged them before they passed the amount over to the bailiffs... I just don't know how they could charge so much?
Thanks I will check out that page... I don't really know the next step at all in this situation...
I suppose that I need to find out exactly what those charges are for!Debt Free since 2012Current Savings £1,400Current Mortgage £143,398.270 -

Thanks I will phone once I finish work
Feel sick now I was sure I was sorting it this morning.. if it wasn't for all these charges then I'd be able to manage my finances!
At least I have set up a direct debit with the Council for the remaining amount for the year starting at the end of December and a promise of a payment £132 at the end of Nov... I MUST pay that £132!Debt Free since 2012Current Savings £1,400Current Mortgage £143,398.270 -

I know what you mean I have the same problem they tryed to charge me another 120 for a letter well I have written to the today telling them I am not paying it so they can give back to the council which is better they can come to an arrangement then
Good Luck0 -
oh don't even go there with balliffs collecting on behalf of council tax... the bailiff dealing with my case is either stupid or just being a fair person (hahaha as if that would ever be the case!) I've called him ... count it... not once but nine times to sort out a payment plan this week so far (this has been going on since October btw) and each time he's either driving and cannot talk or is not in his office and cannot help with details. So instead I've called up the main company, got their bank details and have started paying this directly now!
As for the callout charges he was supposed to put onto my previous claim for £550.00... he forgot to so whew I got away with that! I've asked the company if he can charge me after the debts been paid in full and they said nope! hahahhaha!0
