Temp Xmas Work? Is it worth doing?

Hi I am currently on JSA and so is my partner. It is classed as income support as she is 29 weeks pregnant and I claim for her. I am going to be starting a 2 1/2 week job on the 1sr December at Royal Mail 40 hrs p/w . How does this affect my JSA and housing benefits.

Thanks,

Scott.

  • http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/jcp/Customers may have specific details re JSA- probably will be deucted pro rata for dates you will be working,

not sure about the rent though..
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)
  • be very careful check with your job center although this may seem attractive and worthy in gaining extra income for chrismas, my understanding is that your claim will be closed and you may have to reclaim from the start again. this is ok if you have only been on it a short time but if you are coming up to the 39 week period of mortgage:eek: claim you may very well have to start from day one again. so please check with your job centre

You sign off, then fill in a rapid reclaim form once you need to sign back on. You may need to take payslips or a P45 (if you have one) in. I had to do this, but beware, sometimes they take a long time and things get lost in transit - this happened to me!

As for housing benefit go in, fill out a change in circumstance form and then give them your payslips as and when you get them. They don't need to close your housing benefit claim.
