I have just tried to upgrade my readycash account to a current account - and it has been declined. i have over 1800 going in every month
I have checked and i have 3 cifas warnings on my file -- i have written to blackhorse and lloyds - who have said that it was placed because i said i was my current address for 5 years - and they have a linked address which has adverse against me for the same time period.Welcome finance have added one - but yet there are no searches on my file from them at all- And i would never apply to them for anything. Also i have a random name which has also been placed on my file with a cifas warning - person is not known and definately does not live at my address.
I bought the property and couldnt move in because of flooding - so this is why there is a cross over with addresses - can anyone advise me with how i can get these warnings taken off -

Hi
Contest it with the credit file agency experian or equafax whoever it's with, it they have no just cause they have to remove it. They'll approach the people who put it on. I'm not certain but this is what I did when my ex fiancee had the same initials as me and they thought I was using an alias! Stopped me getting a job.

They should allow you to explain and prove the situation and then they will either remove it or note the details. Have you tried talking to the CIFAS/Fraud teams in the banks that have added the flag so you can explain it to them.
I have one on my account as someone has taken out debt in my name previously, this just warns the banks that a person using my name might not be me and it is a protection for me and the banks. This is what the flag should be used for, not to stop you getting credit or a bank account.0 -
There are different sorts of CIFAS warnings. Some are placed by people to prevent fraudulent use of their accounts. Others are placed by banks if they think you have not told the whole truth about something. You need to know what sort of warning it is.
The first sort should only result in extra checks to ensure you are who you say you are but some banks are lazy, the latter sort will stop you getting new accounts. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I originally spoke to equifax - who told me i needed to contact each person that had added a warning
I had to write to them all - as they claim due to data protection they cannot talk to me on the phone- what a joke
I wrote to them and all and was told that they would not remove as they all received information about a linked adress which had adverse credit
What happened was i was moving from one place to another and couldnt move into my curent address due to water damage - so i was in between addressess . i guess there was a cross over - but all post was then eventually all moved to my current address- i think it is cifas 4 fraud - facility not granted
But they also have also put someone elses name on my file - at my current address. this person has never lived at my address-and not known to me - so y r they on my file.
Alll these warnings seem to be added between july 08 and sep 08. Everything i now apply for are all being declined - and i am sure its due to the warnings0 -
I would suggest you start by talking to the Financial Ombudsman and to the Information Commisioner.
make a formal complaint to each company asking them to remove the CIFAS warning and advising them of your intention to report them to the FO and IC and CC both into the letter. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
