Looking for a tv, for around £600

Ello,
As its my birthday this month, the missus has offered to put some money towards a new TV for this year. I'm getting rid of my (not HD) projector on ebay, and expect to have in total about £600 available to spend on a new tv in its place. I could possibly have a little bit more, but don't want to unless really necessary as it would push me a little.
As I'm not really up on TV's, does anybody have any recommendations in my price range? please don't come back saying 'spend £1100 for a good one as 600 will only buy you tat!' etc because I simply cant. My only other current equipment is a phillips dvd player, cheap tat vhs and my new pioneer DAB stereo I use to output the sound through.
Size is important to me, as is HD compatibility (may as well get it now than replace it next year!). Sound isn't really as I'll just output it through the stereo.
Thanks!
