If you're of a techy programmer nature, SitePoint's books are some of the best around. They're often offering free PDFs of some titles, and at the moment, for the next 13 and a bit days they're offering a free download of the PDF version of The Art & Science of CSS.
Officially you're supposed to sign up to Twitter, yet another social networking site, but there's no requirement to do that. You can just supply your email address (which to the best of my knowledge is only used to send you a download link, and not kept unless you sign up to their usually pretty good newsletters). The link to the Twitter sign-up or email alternative is http://twitaway.aws.sitepoint.com/
The download size is 23Mb.
If you really don't want to even give your email address, the direct link is http://cssdesign.s3.sitepoint.com/Art_Science_Of_CSS_Giveaway.zip
Is that allowed, mods?
