Wanna set of shelves for bathroom (DIY??)

OK, here's the scenario.
Beside the bath there is an alcove 24cm deep and 28cm wide. 140cm + high. At the bottom it is tiled, and I keep millions of bottles of shampoo here.
For the last 3 years I have been meaning to do something about shelves. OH resists on the basis that nothing will be waterproof enough.
I've got to the point where I am starting to fantasise about building shelves in Lego. It seems to me that what I need is a set of shelves, ideally made in a polythene based plastic, but chromed metal would do at a pinch.
Anyone got any non-Lego ideas about plastic shelving which might fit? I'm sure there's a creative solution out there somewhere......

What about glass shelving? Not as cheap as wood but won't rot and much classier than plastic. B&Q, Wickes, etc all sell them.He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0

Hmm, thought about this but haen't seen any the right size - not sure if I've made it clear (lol clear, geddit - oh never mind
) but what I am hoping for is a unit which I can lift in and out (without the shampoo and stuff on it) for cleaning.
Were you thinking of just shelves, and if so how would you suggest I might install them into the (tiled) recess? Thanks for suggestion....
PS OH ruled out glass originally as he said it would get gunky with water - we are not the sort of people who would clean them every day/week - probably not every monthEx board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Ahh gotcha. Yes, I was thinking of just glass shelves with aluminium or stainless steel brackets. I know B&Q have quite a large selection of different sizes although no idea if theres anything suitable for you, it was just an idea! The glass shelves we have just slide out of the brackets (quite tight so wont fall out) and we just stick them in the dishwasher every month or so to clean them. It works for us but may not suit you.He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0

LOL - the word 'dishwasher' suddenly makes this a much more attractive idea!! Are they toughened glass???Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

Yes they are toughened, which is no doubt why they are a bit pricey, but obviously its necessary. He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0
