Hi All,
I have been sooooo inspired by all your wonderful hampers. It's brought out my latent creative side! I have decided on a few I'm going to do, but need a few more ideas what to put in them if anyone has any suggestions please?
Movie Lover's one for my stepdad.
He was born in the flat above the cinema his family owned (lovely old listed place in Teignmouth, Devon, now luxury appts, surprise surprise) He is a seriously serious film buff!! Am putting in:
A clapperboard and a clapperboard keyring with space for a photo (going to put pic of the grandkids in it) Found these on ebay for a total of £4.50ish
A DVD (to be chosen, Mum has to get his "Wanted" list off him!)
Am watching and crossing fingers I will win an item from ebay, which is a first print and first edition film magazine featuring "On the waterfront", his fave film.
A nostalgia one for my sister (we were teens in the 80s)
An 80s compilation CD
DVDs of Bagpuss and Bod
Pack of plasticine (we played with it all the time, and it's always playdough nowadays!)
Rubiks Cube
Deely Boppers
A Coffee Lover's one for my 21yr old brother
Tall coffee mug
Selection of posh coffees from Whittards
I'd be so grateful for some ideas for these from more experienced hamperers...Am off to Aldi, Lidl and Poundland today (as well as trawling the charity shops for baskets and more ideas) so will report back later on my finds!

They sound fab :T I remember plasticine too rather than playdoh!
How about something to nibble for the movie hamper - popcorn, nuts, sweets - could make some fudge...
I love the sound of your eighties hamper and would love to get one - how about retro sweets, leg warmers, fingerless gloves...
Coffee hamper - some biscuits or chocs to go with the coffees, nice spoon...
Great ideas, please keep us updated with your progress

for the movie lovers one, how about some microwave popcorn packets, and some sweets? Also asda sell little cardboard popcorn boxes that you can put in it. they also sell the clapperboards, but you have that already.
not sure about 80's one... I'll have a think.
Coffee lovers, and some biscuits, whittards sell chocolate covered coffee beans, what about a chocolate stirer from whittard, or dip your own plastic spoons in choc, or some alcohol to add to coffee, a couple of little bottles of things like whiskey and baileys.Titch

An 80's music Cd would be fun to include in the retro hamper, but instead of buying one you could make a mix CD of all the songs you both loved.
In the coffee hamper what about a cafetiere (a mini one). You can pick those up quite cheaply in lots of places.0 -
how about a movie from the 80's for the 80s theme one, or a madonna album (she was 80s wasn't she?)
Agree with the caffetiere for the hamper, I love mine! or what about a small flask, there are some funky ones about at the mo, so they can have coffee when out and about.Cross Stitch Cafe Member No: 86 :j0 -
back with a few more ideas for the 80's hamper
You know you're a child of the 80's when book

or make your own by printing this on a nice scroll or something...

or what about a space hopper? We have a couple of adult sized ones at the youth group I run, I got them from the local market for a few pounds each.
and loads of retro sweets!Titch

Hi,
What great ideas! Thank you so much - any more would be fab too!
I bought a coffee scented candle on ebay today for £2, and am going to get a few things in Whittards (think they do a nice Christmas coffee). I went to Reading today and got him a lovely tall coffee cup in the new stuff in a charity shop.
Re the nostalgia hamper, I am making it 70s/80s so I can include 70s cartoon DVDs as well as 80s music!! The "personal to us" mix CD is a great idea - will I be able to do that on itunes and then burn the CD? I am watching a Smash Hits Yearbook from 1980 something on ebay at the mo too! I have been so excited since I decided to do these lol!!
I've now also decided on one for my best friend. She is a real foodie but I thought she'd like to try some different cuisine. So I have ordered the Levi Roots "Reggae Reggae Sauce" cookbook (£5 off on Play.com at the mo, so it's £9.99) and a bottle of the sauce itself, as well as a jar of jerk seasoning. Am going to also put in a bottle of dark rum, to keep the theme West Indian. Can anyone else think of anything else that could go in it?
You're such a help! Thank you!
