Returning an item?

I wonder if anyone out there can help me with this. I bought some "magic knickers" online - you know the ones that squeeze you in and make you lose inches in seconds?! I tried them on (over my normal knickers) and quite frankly they dont work. I went back to the website and in the small print (which I admit I didnt read) it says that briefs are non-refundable. I feel a bit ripped off as I feel the item doesnt do what its advertised for. Do I have a leg to stand on or will I just have put this one down to experience and kiss a refund goodbye? Thanks in advance for your help!

Under the sale of goods act and the trade description act, in your case, you MAY be able to get a refund; they're not fit for the purpose for which they were being sold, eg slimming (or rather making you look slimmer)...0

Did you measure yourself before and after? It might be worth it, we all know how critical we are of our own bodies and it might have been the case that you didn't think it worked but others may have noticed the difference!
If you can prove through your figures that they don't work then they are not as described and you should get your money back (as long as you got the right size for you).
Generally knickers are non-refundable unless they are faulty. I had to take some back to Primark once and I had to inform the CSA there that as they were unwearable (the gusset had been twisted round before being sewn to the back! - I didn't notice as they were part of a set I bought for my daughter) I was entitled to an exchange or refund.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
under the distance selling regulations you should be able to return the goods for a refund within 7 days but:
because of the types of goods they may be excluded from this, only list i could see of excluded items were :
The cooling off period and right to cancel do not apply to contracts for:• goods made to the customer's specification;
• perishable goods (flowers, fresh food);
• CDs, DVDs, and tapes with software, audio or video if unsealed;
• newspapers and magazines;
• betting, gaming and lotteries
but i didn't look very hard admittedly
also the goods need to be returned in a decent condition which they might argue because of the type of goods you can't do because they were tried onYes Your Dukeiness

Trouble is with those magic knickers is that really all they do is smooth out the bumps and lumps.
You also have to buy the right size because if you go too big or too small you will either bulge out or it will do nothing for you.
It might be a case of putting this down to experience, you really need tro try them on in a shop to determine what brands work for you. Trinny and susannahs knickers didnt work for my mother, however spanx did so it is trial and error. Perhaps give the website a ring/email and see what they can do?0 -
