Good quality (but cheap) 14" telly

My bedroom TV has packed in
, so I need a replacement.
Current TV was £50 from Asda, it looks cheap and clearly hasn't been very good quality - the TV I had before it lasted about 10 years
Ideally I am looking to spend up to £80 for a decent brand (Sharp/Samsung etc..), not a supermarket "fake" brand.
I don't want an LCD telly cos the chest of drawers it is on is about 16" deep so there would be no point.
Thanks in advance - regular MSE-er missing his favourite shows here!

HAve you tried taking the 'dead' telly back to Asda? You don't say how old it is, but if it's less than a year old they may well give you yr money back - customer service is normally excellent!
If you know a brand you want, I would try Richer Sounds. OMG  They don't seem to do 'ordinary' TV's any more!!!!!!!! Hmmm, I don't believe this. Is there a local RS you could ring and ask?
I think a supermarket is your best bet - they do stock named brands as well, quite often. And don't forget that allegedly analogue TV is only with us for another 18 months or so, so eventually you will need a digital TV or a Freeview/etc. box. :rudolf:Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Have you looked at Argos, they have proper tellys for sale at not bad money.0

I have one of those exact model portable toshiba TV's spare, we were using it very very very occasionally up till recently as I've just set up my projector based home cinema.
Its like the day it was bought, and has literally been hardly used.... and would be cheaper than that.DONE: Great North Run 09! Raised £452 for the National Autistic Society
