  • We bought a fantastic boiler stove that does central heating and hot water from www.greymetal.co.uk

It's a german style which is a matter of taste, but as you would expect, it's fantastically efficient.

Does anyone on this thread know anything about the sort of insert woodburning/multifuel fires that fit into the opening like a picture - they're called insert/cassette fires and they look really good and I've been told that one would give out more heat than the black cast iron job we have at the present. Anyone any ideas?

I've got a Scan dsa 4-2 in my front lounge:

It can certainly blast the heat out! I don't know that they would be more efficient than a free standing one. We chose it as much for the looks as anything, but it is very easy to use. We do have a free standing in another room, but it's smaller.

I can send you some pics of mine in situ if you want: just pm me.

Don't know aything about the costs of wood burner/their installation, but while you are spending all this money please throw in an extra £20 for a carbon monoxide alarm, if you don't already have one.

    See my other post:http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1319553

It will be money well spent and possibly avoid a trip to the Royal in the future or worse.
  • I got mine via www.wood-burningstove.co.uk and got a great deal.

We got a boiler stove and had it professionally fitted just to be on the safe side. Our dogs certainly love it too!
