any tax relief for security gards

hi i work as a security guard, is there any sort of tax relief i can get for my boot's, sia licence etc?

    You can claim a deduction for the replacement of special clothing - not the original cost.
    £705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:
  • IIRC for washing any work wear there is a deduction as well.

    Yes, it does. Check at www.hmrc.gov.uk to see if there is a fixed rate deduction for your job.

  • You can also claim tax relief for your SIA licence cost. As far as I know the way to do it is to write to HMRC and ask them for tax relief for your licence.

    Yes.
    So long as you have to wear it.
    IIRC you need some assistance from your HR department (good luck!) to do the claim.

    For me, I wear company branded clothing but I'm not forced to so cannot claim for it.
