I need a New Printer (Inkjet)

My Lexmark printer suddenly gave up on me last week and although the Techies have given loads of advice, my Lexmark Z43 just isn't switching on anymore.
So, I need a new one. I'd like to enter the realm of printing photos but these are only family use, not professional - the camera is a 3MegaPixel so no point in having a top of the range printer.
I notice that although my Lexmark was cheap to buy initially, it has used up a lot in ink cartridges which cost a lot. They are tricky to refill too so maybe a printer with easy refillable cartridges would be nice - the name Epson springs to mind.
If anyone knows any good printer deals going atm could you let me know?
Cheers,
CC :snow_grin

We love our 'HP' printer scanner and copier. The very idea of getting colour photocopies 'free' is still a novelty to me (we've had it over 18m and it hasn't gone wrong yet - and it was second hand - a present from Daddy - when we got it. If he can't destroy it, no-one can!!!).This looks similar - haven't checked to see if this is the lowest price though. HTH :rudolf:
Sorry, just re-read original post. We refill our HP with cloned ink which is very cheap. Have seen the model we've got on sale in Tottenham Ct Rd for £50, if you're in the area :jEx board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
We've already got a 600dpi scanner and may hurt its feelings if we get a printer & scanner unit! Although this does sound good, t'price is a tad high.
How easy is it to refill? Do you inject ink into the same cartridges then or buy budget refilled ones??0 -

As to deals, have a look at eBay and see what they are offering, then go to a comparison site and see what the regular suppliers are doing. I ended up getting an SD card from Amazon because it was the best deal for me. So, I advise that you choose your make and check around, rather than choose your price and perhaps end up disatisfied.

Budget refilled ones - haven't squirted ink into anything for AGES!!! (When I arrived at my last job, as the big boss, staff were extremely entertained by my recommendations to squirt ink into cartridges. Until they found the costs, then they all started doing it at home! :rudolf: )
Have now found that my current beloved is an HP 1205. And it's been discontinuedStill maintain that I saw one for sale in Tottenham Ct Rd just before Xmas though - I would happily buy another one.... :snow_grin
(But I do understand about hurting the feelings of your scanner - ours is kept in a box so hasn't realised yet)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Everyone has their own recommendation with printers. I've had problems in the past with Epson so would never touch them again. I have a Canon Pixma IP2000 which is a fantasic little printer. Even though its only 4 colour it prints far better photo quality images than my Epson ever managed. Cartridges are very cheap too as they don't contain the print head like HP and Lexmark do. I buy mine on Ebay for about 2 quid each AND I refill them, but then i'm tight!
I'd definately recommend the Canon Pixma range. He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0
