    Hi there,

I may be wrong here, so please don't shout :D

but your income (all the benefits you are entitled to?) seems low if you are expected to pay 700 rent.

    Hi Insider,
No its not low, that is what I am expected to survive on. This is why I need as much help as I can get to reduce my out goings. My sons allergies mean that he cant have artificial flavors/colours no squash or fizzy drinks, but after looking at the old style board I realize that I can reduce my food bill.
he will be entitled to free school dinners as soon as the benefit is sorted but have to wait a week until I am officially out of work.
    Keep the advice coming guys!

  • I guess you have found the cheapest place for petrol in your area? I think there is a website - petrolprices.com? and some newspapers will publish the petrol prices. Also worth checking you have as much stuff out of the car etc - no roofrack, no stuff in boot that's not essential, also check tyres are pumped up etc.
I realise this is not going to give you a lot extra money but it all adds up.
The only other thing is to maybe get nectar points/clubcard points for filling up with petrol and use them off your shopping?
Also try and get the entertainment budget down - only go to the cinema on orange wednesday, use the library, free talks, exhibitions, maybe he can join after school clubs, making christmas decorations, making biscuits for christmas, decorating the tree etc,etc
Also for presents try making as much as you can, recycling presents if you have any unwanted - just don't give them back to the person who gave them to you, shop around for BOGOFS, reduced prices etc - perhaps you could make up some hampers with offers from the supermarket, freebies, bits you have made etc for Christmas?

  • Hi.How can you claim benefits if you were doing a work trial?
Why were you dismissed?Did they give a valid reason
£40 for a mobile too much.I pay £10 payg with orange.300 free texts a month.
    Why can you not work?
Why do you not declare Maintenance payments for 6 year old?
Comes over bit harsh but not meant too

I have tried to claim Maintenance payments from baby father but dont know where he is! Have given as much detail as I can to CSA
I haven't been claiming benefits whilst working, but they are what I will get.
They don't need to give a reason if you are on probation, I am appealing the decision.
I will work as soon as I find a job, which may be hard with current climate. Even if I can just do a temporary Christmas job it will help, but has to be over 16 hrs and lasting at least 5 weeks to claim tax credits.
I do need to reduce my mobile cost, but I live a long way away from my family and a lot of my friends, and some only have mobiles.
I will try to reduce entertainment costs as well.
Keep the advice coming and don't worry about sounding harsh ;)
