As Sunk has said then if a vehicle is required for work then as long as it is not worth a lot he should be ok to keep it.
I am assuming his wife owns the other vehicle, if so she will have to prove it a necessity not a luxury. Though if it is needed for work then it should be exempt as well providing it is not worth to much.
