Hiya,
We're after a sat nav for my OH's parents...but they don't drive. They do enjoy going on long walks together and we thought it would be a good idea to get them a walking sat nav. However, after typing numerous phrases into Google, I'm completely lost.
TomTom's etc tend to only go by roads (and they often cut through fields), not only that but the battery lives aren't great as they like to be plugged into a cigarette lighter all the time. They are numerous mobile phones out there with sat navs built in, but we are after a standalone unit.
Any ideas greatly welcomed.

you might have better luck with camping stores/sites- there's a store near us does them called cotswold world
they do the garmin gps60 for £130
https://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/webpoint/webpoint.cfm?MENUSTATE=N&SHOWMESSAGE=0&GOTOLOCATION=0&BRAND_FULL_DESCRIPTION=&P36=ASXZZD&FULL_RANGE=0&BRAND_NAME=&FUSEACTION=main&SESSION_EXPIRED=0
or for £300 you can get a satmap active 100
