Hi all I am going to be my sisters bridesmaid,I'm pretty sure the plan is to do our own hair and make up,there are 5 bridesmaids.
I never really do anything with my hair, its long thin brown and boring!.
For the wedding I would like some up and some down and curly(I think!).
I'm not that up on different curling tongues, rollers etc.,ceramic etc( I think I would like something reasonably priced that can curl or straighten, and is fairly fool proof to use,and not too damaging!!)
Can any one advice what item I should purchase to do a fab easy effective style, easy curls a bit of a lift etc, hairspray,or other products?
Any websites that give step by step instructions for fancy hair do's (and maybe makeup)

Hi, I've bought one of these

I have had a play and it makes fantastic ringlet type curls, but I need to practice more before the big day0 -
try a babyliss conical wand - anyone can curl with those
good luck0 -
Having sat in on quite a few Bridal preparations (I video weddings), I think I've got the curl thing pretty well. Pretty much all of the hair dressers are using straightening irons to create curls. As long as it's not freshly washed hair, and you use a good hair spray, the curls seem to hold well. Get plenty of practice in beforehand, and be prepared for a few mistakes that are hard to flatten back down (so don't practice just before going for a night out!), but you'll soon get the hang of it.
Just catch the end of a piece of hair in the plates, wrap the hair round the iron as you would tongs, and then (this is the hard bit to describe!) untwist the hair in a downward spiral, and then open the irons to let the end out. Because good irons are so hot, you don't need to hold the hair in them for any length of time, just do it all in one smooth movement. Whereas with tongs, I always find I have to hold the hair in the position for a while to get it to set.

I've heard that using straighteners gives really good curls, but haven't been able to try it because my straighteners are the wide ones for thick hair!
If your hair is thin you could try using a thickening/volume shampoo before styling, as if you're having half up half down it could look thinner.
Also if you're going to practice different styles then maybe use some of the stuff you can get to protect your hair from all the heat.0 -
Have a look here
They're not all bridal styles, but should give you good, easy to follow advice for the day.
Their make-up videos are worth watching too.“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

There are a few good videos on youtube as well if you search for bridal/prom & hair half up/half down styles.0
