JSA when a part time student

i thought you could claim JSA if you are studying part time - a girl on my course is doing it, it's a diploma rather than a degree though. the problem is arranging jobhunting/working/jobcentre appointments around the course timetable as we all know how flexible the jobcentre are  how about dropping into student support? they're probably the best people to ask. i bet a lot of students will be in the same situation at the mo.
still laughing at that comment about most students not needing work..... what planet are you on?! :rotfl:0 -
What kind of course is he doing? Couldn't he just do it full time anyway and finish quicker? The only thing worse than smug married couple; lots of smug married couples.0

if he studies more than 16hrs he is not entitled to claim becomes exempt as part time hours are more than permitted and job centre decsion makers say if he is available for work and is entitled or not. students cant claim but lectures andsome teahers do claim jsa in the summer months what a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0

You will find that there are special rules regarding teachers claiming JSA during the summer. The majority are not able to.Gone ... or have I?0 -

This isn't true in all cases.
Why are you so angry about it anyway? He sounds like he's in a position to study full time so he should go for it, finish quicker and get a suitable job.
Can't understand why he can't just wait tables a few nights a week like my friends and I did when we were students (studying full time not even part time). The jobs ARE still there. The only thing worse than smug married couple; lots of smug married couples.0 -
you wil be surprised how many teachers / lecturers do even when still have contract. agreed not all teachers do but when they contact jc in summer months demanding money for term holidays its rediculous espec oness who are pro rata. im angry as thats all i heard all summer how it was ridiculous when didnt have money when some people who needed help who didnt have work to go back to werent kicking up such a fuss0
