Never give your telephone number to CapitalOne unless you are very, very lonely and want to be called 4+ times a day, every day including Saturday and early Sunday morning.
I never gave my number to this company and do not know how they obtained it despite my telling them each time to STOP CALLING ME and also being ex-directory and on the Telephone Preference Service. This is unlawful under the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 and I am complaining to the Telephone Preference Service, and the Information Commissioner's Office which is responsible for enforcing this law. At the suggestion of a forum member, I have also contacted the company itself four times - each time I have been assured this calling will be stopped and each day I get these unwanted calls. It is making me increasingly distressed.
I will now write to Srini Gopalan, MD Europe, CapitalOne to demand this stops. Apart from the nuisance this is causing me it is commercially inept. Would you invest in or do business with a company which drives people mad and who make it clear that they do not want to hear from you. Would a company with integrity subject their staff to the inevitable anger which comes from being called after repeatedly being told to stop calling. Needless to say I will never do business with this company and I note that on American consumer sites it has the lowest possible ratings.
If this doesn't work I will sue. If anyone has suggestions or has suffered similar harassment from CapitalOne, I would be pleased to hear.

If you have bt you can get the calls stopped with their choose to refuse option, I think you have to pay a little charge quarterly but it is worth it just for the peace, it is terrible what they do to people.0

You could also try going to the Companies House website, click on the webcheck tab and look up Capital One. Then buy a copy of their annual return for £1. If you're really lucky, it will include Srini Gopalan's home address. You can write to this and tell them that you are going to continue writing until they stop invading their privacy by contacting you at home. Hopefully they will get the point then. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Hi Janet 37 and vivatisfosi
Thanks for your replies
I have tried Choose to Refuse but unfortunately they can't deal with call centre numbers and refer you to the Telephone Preference Service which has not been effective yet, though I will continue complaining as this is against the law as detailed in first posting.
I love the idea of the Companies House website - thank you - and certainly will be following this up0 -

I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only.
I certainly wouldnt put this in the letter. Because IMHO, you will be inundated with correspondence from them..0
