few questions about Experian credit check...i have 8addresses??!

So i've been on my Experian credit report and i have 8 other known addresses?

I have lived in this house since i was 11 (am now 21)
And i lived in student halls in Dundee for 7 months in 2006-2007

All the addresses are for the halls in Dundee, but under different flats? like room 5 flat 12, room 4 flat 5 etc.

I remember i had a hard time trying to change my address with the bank at the time, because the student halls would not come up on their system when they typed in the Post Code.
Because they were originally student accomm linked with Dundee uni, then they sold half of them off! The another company who bought them, came in and rebrande them as student flats for both the unis and the college in Dundee.
So they kept coming up as the Uni flats instead of what they actually where.

So my question, can i get this changed?

You may need to check the other credit reference agencies as well. I don't think this information will cause any problems, but you can phone them and ask how you can get it changed. I'm not sure if you need to send them a notice of correction, list all the incorrect addresses and state what it should be, but Experian will be able to advise you without any problem.

Thanks, i have emailed Experian about it.
There are other credit checking agencys?

So do i need to pay to join them now as well.

Did you pay to join experian?
As far as i am aware, you can get a months free trial with experian and equifax (as long as you cancel within 30 days). Not sure if callcredit do a free trial.

That link i provided tells you how you can order a copy of your report for £2 each. Even getting a couple of these reports a few months apart will probably be cheaper than whatever they are charging you.

I've got 22 addresses linked against my account and I've only ever lived in 2 places! Living in a flat which uses 'flat number / street number' as the official address means that sometimes automated systems don't recognise that there is punctuation in the address and I have to write Flat 1, Number 1. My previous address used the tenement style of addressing which was (1F2) 10 Acaca Avenue, so it sent their systmes into meltdown!!! Sometimes it also makes the county or suburb name compulsary too so there are a number of variations of the same two addresses and I'm not sure if having so many addresses listed works against me.

In view of your comments about the linked address details, I am contacting the company who provided the information for you. I am also writing to GE Capital regarding entry C1 (Debenhams account). I will contact you as soon as they reply.

While I investigate your comments, I am adding the following statement to the information you have queried.

"THE CONSUMER HAS DISPUTED THE ACCURACY OF THIS ENTRY AND WE HAVE THEREFORE ASKED THE PROVIDER TO INVESTIGATE IT. GIVEN THAT THIS DATA IS DISPUTED, PLEASE TAKE CARE IF MAKING AN ASSESSMENT OF ANY KIND THAT MAY INCLUDE THIS DATA."

I am telling all the companies that have searched your credit report in the last six months of the change to your information. Your report will change in the next seven days. Please use this correspondence if you need proof in the meantime.

With regard to entries to C2 and C4, companies update our records on a monthly basis for the previous month. This means that any payments you have made can take several weeks to be registered on our records.
