whats that number? won competition and not sure?

can anyone help me find that site that lets you look up a phone number...

a friend has received a special delivery letter that is handwritten and signed saying he has won a competition with seasons holidays and for him to phone a number within 7 days to claim. He does remember entering the competition but he is unsure whether it will be a con. But, it is an 0800 number so could be ok?

he is wanting to know whether he should go ahead and ring - any advice anyone?

Seasons holidays are Club la Costa by another name. There are lots of reports of people being wary of them (for example http://blogs.mirror.co.uk/investigations/2008/09/wheres-my-free-club-la-costa-h.html), but as long as your friend can resist the urge to sign up for a timeshare, he can benefit from the deal.

They will most likely want him to attend a presentation at his local city with his partner, and will give him some M & S vouchers or something for attending. If you have a high boredom threshold and can carry on saying 'no' indefinitely, and meet their conditions (enough income, lived in your house for long enough, stable relationship or marriage) you can get goodies out of them - including a holiday, as I understand it, but you do have to go to at least one more presentation on the holiday if you take this up.
