Hi there, First post!

I'm in trouble...
Have stopped using my cards, cut them up, and just faced reality and counted up my debts so here they are...
£53,000 credit cards
£15,000 unsecured personal loan
£1,500 overdraught
£1,000 studio catalogue
I've read a few things on here, and wondered how I go about asking for CCA's, I can't find a template letter.
Apart from trying this, any ideas what else I can try?
I can't find a job, and am two months behind, plagued by phone calls, scared to open letters, not sleeping etc etc. Can't believe this has happened to me. I'm scared.
People on here seem to know how to fet things done, I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks so very very much in anticipation!!
(I want to enjoy Christmas) PS I live in Scotland

I think your on the wrong board, however, from the sound of it you need to see the CAB urgently and your probable only way out is bankruptcy. Sorry that I can't offer more practicle help other than that and best wishes!

Send the following letter re requesting CCAs.

If you're in finanacial difficulty, which you appear to be, look at my signature and use the link within it for further advice.

    Dear Sir/Madam

    Re:− Account/Reference Number XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

With reference to the above agreement, I would be grateful if you would send me a copy of this credit agreement.

I understand that under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 (Sections 77−79), I are entitled to receive a copy of our credit agreement on request.

I enclose a payment of £1.00 which represents the fee payable under the Consumer Credit Act.

I understand a copy of my credit agreement should be supplied within 12 working days.

I understand that under the Consumer Credit Act creditors are unable to enforce an agreement if they fail to comply with a request for a copy of the agreement under these sections of the Act.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Yours faithfully

Welcome to MSE. Some sound advice from 10past6, and can I suggest you also post on the Debt-free wanabee (DFW) board - situated just above this one on the forum list? You will find lots of help and support on there from people who have been in similar situations, and there is also a CCCS counsellor who will answer questions.
    Good luck x
  • I second the suggestions to use the debt free wannabel (DFW) board http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=76 - the people there have experienced every problem possible and are very generous in advice to others in the same position. Normally your first step is to post an SOA (statement of affairs) - see here for the calculator for this http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html but if you can't face it yet it's still worth posting just to get a feel for what the people there are like.

There is also a thread in the moneysavers arms here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1245343 where women in the same position as you are trying to get on with their lives - they are a very friendly bunch and will offer you a lot of moral support if you post there.

Good luck and well done on starting to face up to your debt, it is a really hard thing to do and you should be proud of yourself!
  • Hi dawn w
how do i get in touch with the cccs on the debt forums?
    Cheers
  • There's a board here for being in touch with the CCCS
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1231527

But they also have a website
