This happened to me in the early 90's - wanted to sell due to divorce but couldn't so ended up giving back the keys. Heard nothing for 6 years!! Then they (Abbey) wanted 26K! I made them an offer of 4K, they said they wanted 10K and I had to get letters from 3 lenders confirming that I couldn't obtain a loan! Spoke to 2 lenders who said they wouldn't lend for that purpose and confirmed in writing, then applied to Abbey for a loan. They too said they wouldn't loan for the purpose I had.
I went back to the solicitor they had instructed with this information and they then accepted the 4K in full and final payment! I did have another property at that point and have never had any issues since.
It was a very nervewracking time though and not something I would do again if I could avoid it.MBNA [STRIKE]£2,029[/STRIKE] £1,145 Virgin [STRIKE]£8,712[/STRIKE] £7,957 Sainsbury [STRIKE]£6,870[/STRIKE] £5,575 M&S [STRIKE]£10,016[/STRIKE] £9,690 Barclaycard [STRIKE]£11,951[/STRIKE] £11,628 CTC [STRIKE]£7,629[/STRIKE] £6,789 Mortgage £[STRIKE]182,828[/STRIKE] £171,670

We don't get Channel 5 here, not sure why (but don't feel we've missed much)....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Spot on, it's a snow storm.
I'm not worrying about the switchover yet - it's in 2012. Sufficient unto the day.......much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Yes, that's probably it. I was thinking that an OR might not want the expense of a hearing where the bankrupt could just turn up in person to represent himself. So, there's pressure all round to reach an agreement.
I've never been bankrupt, but I've seen a few clients in the process, and it does seem to me that the best course is to make sure that there are absolutely no assets for the receiver to grab, and preferably very little income. The less you have, the less time the receiver can afford to spend on your case.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Here you are, mocking him, but without really listening to his message.
Sadly, I have been listening to the messages on this board. For months there has a lot of fury which has been aimed at BTLers and tbh I thought maybe those posters have got a point. Maybe the poor old FTBs have been priced out of the market by the BTLers, maybe these guys have a right to be angry. Roll on a few months and now the Arm Chair General is planning on buying his first BTL. He might argue that he never said he wouldn't buy a BTL but he never defended the BTLers. So no - I can't be bothered "listening to his message" because it obviously is empty rhetoric to suit whatever argument he is making at the time.
You'd be wise to find yourself a new Messaih - I hear Jesus wasn't bad and he was never a hypocrite to my knowledge.0
