Facing up to our credit card debts.

Hi my husband and I have finally faced up to our crippling debts today. We owe around £18,000 on credit cards, much of this was from before we got together. At the moment we pay around £900 a month off these and it is killing us. Ages ago I saw a tool on this site regarding how to clear off credit card debts by paying highest interest first, but now I can't find it. Can anyone help? Please, we are desperate.

Thanks

    That'll be the one.

I'd also suggest posting up your statement of affairs (SOA) incase there are any savings that can be made in your expenditure or if we can shiffle some of your card balances to reduce the amount of interest you are paying.

George where did you do the gambling, on line ? Hope you're back on track, i had a lapse today after 10 months abstinence-which just goes to show the danger is always lurking.

Tr@cker - yes, it was online. Did ok with poker then moved on to casino - big mistake. Relapse was went back to poker freerolls and noticed i could play blackjack from the poker program. Panic betting followed, but i've not bet for about 3 months now - i know i now have no control once i start. I now keep a diary here and post on the gamblers support thread - drop in sometime.

Mistery - if you go to the SOA calculator, fill in the details for monthly spending (try to make it as close as you can to what you actually spend per month - yearly stuff just divide by 12). Once it is filled in, press calculate and then MSE format so you can then copy and paste the details from the window that pops up. Just paste it into the message box as you would if you were replying to a post.
