Did anyone buy one of the racing sets from Aldi's recently.

I bought one of the twin loop the loop racing sets for my son for his xmas. Didn't want to spend loads on a Scalectrix as he's only four. Took me best part of an hour to build it up, and he played with it for all of five minutes. Not because he had loads of other stuff to play with on xmas morning, although he did have, but because 'in his words', it was rubbish. :(
The magnets on the bottom of the cars that are supposed to hold them on to the track are worse than useless, and the cars go so fast the don't even try to go round the corners, but just fire off into the distance.
Anyone had the same problem, and do you know if Aldi are okay about refunds ?.

Johnny

    Hi,

I can't say anything about the set but i can tell you that Aldi are excellent at giving refunds (at least my local are) they don't ask any questions.

I'll second that Carrie, you do need to take your receipt tho.

My son just brought one from boots reduced from 40 to 20 pounds easy to put up as well. I would second that Aldi are good at giving refunds.
But if ever I stray from the path I follow

  • I must say that the car racing set from aldi is excellent value for money. I agree that putting it together was a long drawn out process - but once assembled, it has provided hours of fun. Initially we too sent the cars flying off at the corners. However, the controllers are very responsive, and after some subtle pressure adjustments, we are now able to rattle off lap after 'loop-the-loop' lap.

P.S. 'slow down at the corners' is good advice!
