How do you pickle chilies?

I have never pickled anything before so need some help please 
Have found lots of different ways on the web, too many to choose from.
so I wondered if anyone here had a tried, tested and quick way of doing it?

I have done it once.
All I did was clean and dry them. Slit the sides and put in a jar then pour vinegar.
Make sure you sterilise the jars.0 -
OH just slices into rings and puts in jars with white vinegar, he also chops some finely and pots them with olive oil.0
