    Mortgage 800? etc...

I think you are living beyond your means. Don't mean to sound snotty here (here comes the snotty bit) but why, when you have so many debts do you think you still deserve the spoils of all those expenses? Sell your house, down size, urgently, get yourself a banger. Sorry, it's all you can afford. I think maybe you have convinced yourself that you NEED things which are in fact luxuries?

I think there is a bit of denial going on here. What say you Savero? Have you considered all of these options? Are there things I have not considered myself?

You might be happier if you do this.

Keep you chin up, keep smilin, thats the main thing.

    Ross,

Unforrrrtunately life here in the surrey commuter belt is not the same as in newcastle- I own a two bed semi - not a palace, a studio flat is around 150k here!! I work only 5 miles away, a tank of petrol lasts me a month, and I do drive an old banger- the car in question is for my other half, I will not have her braking down in the middle of nowhere due to having to drive an old !!!!heap. Also there are the kids to think about.

Our hardships come from the fact that we have seen dramatic cuts in our salaries- I took on my debts on the promise of a ten year contract, three years in, and the powers that be are cutting back and looking to shelve the programme. My point is this, I did not live extravagantly, but i was comfortable. All my old statements say the same thing- running costs, food costs, repair men, livingexpenses - not living it up expenses. If I could find the sort of work i do in other area's then I would gladly up root, infact a mate of mine did just that to newcastle of all places, and he is living like a lord on the same money. I can only wait to see what the new year holds, and take it from there...

Bham Dave.. thank you so very much for the support, i'll follow all of those leads up in the new year- once their suspended animation wears off.
  • Hi, been in the same situation as you, well still am in it!! Started three years ago, my husband lost his job due to ill health and a salary of 60k. The best thing you can do to stop the phone calls is to change your telephone number. We found this the only way as they will continue to pester you at all times of the day. We contacted National Debtline and they will take you through every step and send you draft letters to send to people for various circumstances, including harrassment. Things havent got any better, you just learn how to cope with them and find there is always someone worse off than yourself!!!! Keep smiling!!!!
