University chasing for payments

Hi I wonder if anybody can help me with a bit of a problem-
My girlfriend finished Uni this year but in the past few months they have started sending us letters saying she owes money (not much about £80) from her second year.
Getting to the bottom of this proved to be a pain with the Uni and the LEA both saying it was to do with the other.
Finally the LEA said it was to do with a Loan that was never actually applied for and there was nothing to pay.
Problem we have now is that the Unit persist in sending letters every two weeks demanding this payment, and are now sending ones threatening to refer the debt to an external debt collector.
This is now starting to stress my other half out to the point of tears, so if anybody has any advice what to do I would be very grateful.
Thanks

Did you get this in writing? If so send a copy by recorded delivery to the University Vice Chancellor's office and tell him/her you don't want any more letters and you'd like an apology too.0 -
sadly didn't get that in writing- just over a phone conversation :mad:0

Then I suggest trying to get the LEA to write to you with this information, and also wirtie to the V-C asking them to hold off any further action until you've had a reply
You may find that your Student's Union may also be able to help0
