MFI Sale - Haggle abit

Good Afternoon, I have just returned from spending my Tesco MFI vouchers. I wanted to buy a king size bedstead, a king size mattress, a pine bunk bed, 2 single mattresses and a computer chair. All the items were in the sale and reduced in price.
I said to the assistant, any chance of a further price reduction seen as I am buying so much and guess what ? she gave me another 5% discount off and half price delivery. I wasn't going to haggle but thought hey why not, nothing to lose.
It all came to just under £1,000 so used only my vouchers and no cash. Very pleased.

I ordered a kitchen from them in august when they had their sale & 20% extra off. I went back yesterday and changed a couple of bits to my order and although i was promised the same prices as i had originally ordered the price was more expensive. Worktops and plinths etc was not included in the sale but they were when i originally ordered. I also have a copy of the sale leaflet from both sales and upon comparing the prices they are more expensive in this sale (which is meant to be 25% off and their "best ever sale").
They have bumped up all the list prices prior to this sale, you probably would have been cheaper pre ordering it a few months ago, even then they would have given you a discount if you had haggled!
Im changing my order again and going to a different branch, im not too happy with the service i received from them either.A banker is someone who lends you an umbrella when the sun is shining, and who asks for it back when it start to rain.0 -
Oh dear that is terrible, I had been checking the prices regularly in their so called sales and missed the last sale because it would have been more expensive than this one.
I understand you can get clubcard points on the order too is that true ? only ask because after ploughing through all that multi-coloured shimmering beef I want to make sure I don't miss out on any additional points - thanks

Interesting...
I am in the market for a new kitchen at the moment. I priced up a MFI kitchen before the sale started and I have just collected a new quote with the sales prices.
I have also priced up a B&Q ITKitchens (cheap range) and also a B&Q Select (New Italian designed range).
The first major thing I have noticed is that the cost of the appliances, sink, taps, worktops, etc are 100% more than B&Q. The basic unit prices when I compare the MFI to B&Q Select range are similar. The B&Q standard range is over 100% cheaper.
An example is a Bosch double oven I have been looking at.
MFI before sale = 1200 (list price from Bosch)
MFI Sale price = 900
Internet price = 680
Have you tried Howdens? They are part of the MFI group but only sell to the trade. I went in to see them the other day, but they were funny and said they wouldn't give me a price and it would have to come from a builder. I think if you went it saying you were a builder then you would be ok and get a price from them.
Anyway, I have a couple of days to decide as the sales at B&Q and MFI end on the 2nd Jan....0 -
We just got our kitchen from Howdens..we found a joiner and he took us to look at Howdens..We paid hardly anything for our kitchen....I would recommend Howdens..It's the same stuff as MFI..At least you have more choice where as we first went to MFI for a kitchen and they said that the cupboards were supplied with one type of handle and you would have to buy your own from B and Q if you wanted to change them.....ermmm we opted out of the MFI kitchen and chose everything we wanted from Howdens...0

I order around 6-7 kitchens and bedrooms a year from MFI because i refurbish houses. I have several old price lists for this year. Base prices do fluctuate but they have definitely NOT "bumped up all the list prices prior to this sale".
It is currently not there best ever prices either even if it is claimed to be their "best ever sale". The best this year for units was 60% + a further 10%. This is actually 64% off. The current offer is 50% + a further 25% which is actually 62.5% off. However the best offers are when the further 20% off is on everything and not just the units. The overall best offer this year was 50% off + a further 20% off everthing. This means that you get 60% off the units and 20% off accessories. This offer may have been on when you bought yours.
If you take an accessory back now that you bought with 20% off then you can only expect to get back what you paid for it. If you want to buy a different accessory now then expect to pay the current price. It always amazes me that people rush to the MFI new year sale when similar offers are on throughout the year apart from when the have to legally do a non-sale price.Cash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. Mortgage rate 0.75% = 5.75% profit on £75K = £4500 per year:j
Mortgages make money. Definitely don't wanabee mortgage free!0 -
NO
M.F.I. are really bad, poor quality units delivered damaged time and time again.I had to get my worktops from Ridgeons because the M.F.I. ones were delivered damaged twice,2 weeks in between deliveries, first delivery end of september still not complete, absolute rubbish, never again!!!!!!!!!!!!!
However I read that they maybe going into receivership in the new year?

Just to clarify i have not received a kitchen at all yet. We are waiting for work to be done to the house first (planning, new roof etc).
*Ordered kitchen in August during 50% off +20% off everything
*Explained our situtation to saleswoman and was told when we came back in Nov/Dec that we would get everything at the price of the August sale if we wanted to change anything!!
*We got nothing at the August price yesterday.
*Upon looking at the leaflets EVERYTHING that we ordered was more expensive in this sale. Some units were only £4 dearer but others were as much as £50. No discount off appliances, worktops, plinths etc but there was in August.
*We talked to another salesman there and shown them both leaflets and they had a look and said that the list prices of the units had been bumped up prior to this sale!
I forgot to use my clubcard oops. Never mind will be going back to change my order and i shall be taking full advantage of their price promise!A banker is someone who lends you an umbrella when the sun is shining, and who asks for it back when it start to rain.0 -

MFI don't give Clubcard points on purchases any more - they do still take the deal vouchers though.0
-
Are you sure Addy ? because we were told yesterday that we would receive 969 points once our items had been delivered on 20th January. MFI themselves cannot give the points, but Tescos receive the redeemed vouchers and then they credit the points or so I thought.
