What MP3 Player Do You Recommend £50 to spend?

I have about £50 to spend on an MP3 player, pink would be ideal and 256mb would be fine - just a basic thing not a fancy one. It needs to work with Windows 98 First Edition.
I got an MP3 player for Christmas which I've had to take back. Had all sorts of problems trying to install the driver etc. I posted my problems on this site but unfortunately still couldnt get it to work. The one I had to return needed an .exe file that was compatible with windows 98SE which was part of my problem I think.

In response to your 1st question - what about the 1GB Medion 81018 available from Kwiksave and Somerfield for just £24.99 - see the grabbit board for full details.
In response to your 2nd point re Win 98 1st ed / 98SE ......
..... I'm 99.9% certain that USB does NOT work on 98 1st edition and 98SE IS MANDATORY if you want to use a USB device !!!There are 10 types of people in the world. ‹(•¿•)›(11)A104.28S94.98O112.46N86.73D101.02(12)J130.63F126.76M134.38A200.98M156.30J95.56J102.85A175.93

How do I check which version of WIndows I am using. My boys have cheap MP3 players and I managed them ok but when I got mine it kept saying w98eject.exe file needed and when I clicked on that I got a message saying this was not compatible with my windows system!0

You can use Windows 98 with USB, however you will need the Drivers, as they are not built in!
Yes, try the kwiksave MP3 Player - More memory the better, the cheapr the better

Right-click the 'Start' button (bottom left of the screen) and select the 'Explore' option.
Currys have a range of cheapish MP3s (256mb starts at £25) http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1467332667.1135762639@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccckaddgikfeeeecflgceggdhhmdgml.0&show_all=true&category_oid=-25959&page=ProductList&fm=13&sm=1&tm=undefined&oldpage=true (will probably be similar in Dixons and PCWorld).0 -

If it's any help- Sybil bought me the Medion MP3 Player referred to above yesterday, and IMHO it's a cracking bit of kit with a very good sound. Equivalent 1GB players are twice the cost elsewhere, so would recommend.0
