Problems with Tyco Cyber Shocker anyone??

Santa brought this to our house for Christmas - unfortunately by the afternoon- without it having even been played with properly, it gave up the ghost. It seemed to need recharged, which we did, as its eyes were flashing, but this did not help.
We now have a very disappointed boy with a toy being parceled up to post back to the elves in Santa's workshop today (via Woolworths).
Has anyone else had problems with this (expensive) toy???

If this is in the wrong place apologies and please move.

  • Haven't had a problem with ours, but it did say in the instructions you must charge battery for 5 1/2 hours before playing with it at all, which we did. Seems to be working fine (touch wood)
  • It took me about an hour to suss out how the battery fitted!!!! Once I managed that, it's been going no bother. We charged battery for 5 1/2 hours too.

Santa kindly left ours charging before he left the house. Its been used twice and no problems yet. Great at whipping the ankles off the relatives! Hope this is an isolated problem and sorry your little boy has been disappointed.

Oh God, I am too depressed now to even think of opening ours now. The big Daleks thing keeps falling off, the Tardis money box doesnt make any noises when you put the money in, the battle pack doesnt register hits properly, so please, please, please let the Cyber Shocker work!

Am I being a bit rose-spectacled about the whole thing, but I when I was a kid, toys were a bit more robust and could actually be played with. Father Christmas bought Rebound for DD which me and hubbie had as kids, and I couldnt belive how flimsy, plasticky and down right cheap the board is now. Surely in 25 years topy making should have gone forwards, not backwards?!

(Perhaps I am just suffering an attack of Post Christmas Blues?!)

  • Phoned Woolworths today and they were very helpful. They're getting a delivery in at the end of the week and might have more Cyber Shockers in. If not they will refund our money as we have the receipt. We would prefer a replacement one though, or Santa will not be very popular in our house!!!
  • My son got one of there. WE charged it for the 5.5 hrs. It works fine in that respect, but on its second short play session one of the arm things that spin round stopped working in one direction. I'll have to wait for him to go back to school next week, and return to toys r us. As he thinks father christmas bought it!

It's a scary toy though! Leathal looking in action!
