Got 3 short dumpy storage jars doing nothing..........would they be ok for pots of gold and what do I do about the cork lids on them ?

I'm so impressed by what I've seen but as these will be going into a shoe box with other stuff they need the lid on.

chocolate.orange - thanks. I'll go ahead with them.
I'd done one of a sort already but I'd used an empty gravy granule tub, stuck images of gold coins around it, picture of a pot of gold on the lid and gave it a gold ribbon but it doesn't look much by comparison of the ones I've seen on here.
I can do one for grandchildren (they'll be 16 at christmas so lottery stuff will be ok for them) and one for my son and one for ex foster girls husband.
Gets rid of the jars as well.............lol

    Hi,

Here's one I made for my dads birthday recently. You can't see it but there is a £10 note folded into the shape of a shirt. My mum folded it and not me - I'm not that skilled.

  • Guys, I just want to say what you have all created is absolutely wonderful. You should be really proud of yourselves, and the recipients, I am sure, will remember their gifts forever.

I am trying my best to be more creative, with all the superb ideas on this forum.

So far I have managed 1 hamper, created from scratch, & wrapped as professionally as I could, lol! I am not the most dextrios of people. But my Oh's mum, who I made it for, said she had never had something as thoughtful in her whole life! She is 68 now! with loads of kids... She had tears in her eyes, she didn't unwrap it, just stared through the cellophane at all the goodies!

One thing I did, that I thought made a nice touch, was, spray a normal seagrass hamper gold, and then I stuck gold and red large pot pourri flowers and stuff to the lid. It was so pretty and effective, and smelt great!

I should have posted a pic, but cos it was a first attempt was a bit embarrassed in case it was naff!

But what I have realised is, even if it had of been naff, she wouldn't have cared. Cos she got something unique, she was genuinely moved.

I know I am rambling guys, but really, just wanted to say, you are wonderful caring, creative people & thankyou all so much for the inspiration.

  • Oh the other thing I wanted to say was, the hamper that I made was based on books and tea. The centre piece was a royal albert 'flower of the month' crysanthenum ( November Birthdays!)China cup & saucer. I got 2 sets for peanuts on Ebay. I only used one. If anyone has a similar idea, or can use the cup and saucer, just pm me, I will post it off.
