Gretna registry office photographer

If we get married in Gretna Resistry Office, are we allowed to then travel to one of the venues for our photographs do you think? Like the Blacksmiths shop maybe? Do the venues allow this to happen?

I have read aagggeeess ago somewhere (can't find it now!), that after a registry office wedding for a nominal fee, the wedding can be blessed over the anvil - so would that mean pics were allowed in their grounds perhaps? I really really want photographs of the day, but the budget is so tight, this is the only way I can think of it happening - what we save on a registrars attendance fee, and venue price, we could put towards a photographer.

Any advice welcome!

I think you can get a blessing over the anvil for around £75, which isn't all that cheap tbh.

Having visited Gretna the other week for my own wedding arrangements, I noticed that there is a main compound behind the blacksmiths shop and it has a decorative area- kissing gate, gretna sign etc - I'm sure you would be able to find enough local places to have your pictures taken without having to pay the extra. :D

Yes you can use Gretna Hall Blacksmiths and have a blessing arranged! When/If you book your photographer then they can arrange all this for you.
Wedding Photography in Reg Office is £20.00 extra (Reg Office charge this!!!!) and if you go to Gretna Hall afterwards it cost £15.00 extra (although these charges might go up slightly for next year). I'm don't really know if you can use the world famous - but Gretna Hall is the one I use as it has lovely gardens as well as Gretna Green Sign and Kissing Gate.
    Hope this helps

HI Nell35, thats brill, thanks for that. So when we approach a phographer, we let them know it's registry office, then somewhere for photos and they would most probably arrange it from there for us?
That'll be great. Means I'm saving aprox £200 on venue, and £100 on attendance fee for the registrar. Which is where the fee for the photographer is coming from!
    Thanks again

Try the local uni/colleges and see if a student willl do it on the cheap.. It doesnt always mean worse quality.
