CCA Help!

Hi All,
I know this has probably been gone through several hundred times already but i'd be really grateful if someone could explain the sending off for a CCA and how long to leave it and what happens after.
My husband and I have a loan with the AA which we took out in 2005, and have dfaulted on this and only made a couple of payments since
Also it doesn't appear on either of our Experian reports, so we're wondering whether we can write it off or not. We've had trouble locating the DCA which holds the debt in the past as it seems to have been passed around ALOT! and even when we phoned the AA they didn't have a record of it. However a couple of days later we received a letter from one of the DCA's we contacted, stating the loan amount and what we owed.
So we're not sure where we stand on this and are keen to get it sorted either way
Can you do the same thing with a credit card? Again my husband has a Lloyds TSB one(2005), over the limit and hasn't really been paid since filling it up, now they want payment (have a solicitors letter) yet when we told them we hadn't received any statements for 6 months they just kept saying they had sent them, and then wanted £6 to send out a copy of this months. I am reluctant to start paying off a credit card that we have no information (apart from the number) for. (card was cut up years ago!)
Sorry for the long post, baby brain lol. Any help would be really appreciated!!!

Yes you can request a CCA for loans and credit cards. If you look for the threads about CCA's started by Stapeley then you'll find out how to go about it all, he's the expert on this.
One note of caution though, debts aren't written off ever unless you die. They become unenforcable, which is slightly different.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
