Frederickson International

I have a debt that has been passed on to frederickson international.

The debt is an old one, I recently heard that if frederickson international dont have my credit agreement then im not legally bound to pay the debt.

Is this true?
And what should I do now?

Basically yes. How old is it , could be statue barred ? If it not statue barred request a notice of assignment to prove they a legal right to pursue it , and a copy of a Consumer credit agreement .
  • dontthink its statute barred because ive had recent contact with them.

how do i request a notice of assignment to prove they have a legal right to pursue it?
I'm rubbish at witing letters and sounding like i actually know what im talkin about

How long since you either made a payment or wrote a letter acknowledging the debt?

What was the debt for? Some debts aren't covered by the CCA. However, if there's been a period of six years where you didn't acknowledge in writing or by making a payment that the debt's yours then you don't have to pay. Even if you've recently acknowledged it, if there was a period of six years before that then it's still statute barred.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • The debt was for a contract phone bill, i payed my usual direct debit last month and havent have a continuous period of non contact for six years.

So, its definately not statute barred.
But i dont have a signed consumer credit agreement with them and they probably dont have the original one from my phone company.

How do i write to them asking them for a cca, and how long do i have to give them to reply?

Unfortunately mobile phone contracts aren't covered by the CCA. I'm sorry.

  • oh no, does that mean that there is nothing i can do and i have to pay it?

    what do cca's cover?

It means you are liable for the debt and it is still enforceable.

    what do cca's cover?

The consumer credit act covers hire purchase, unsecured credit and certain forms of secured credit (second loans) up to a limit of I think 25k
