I need help

First Off... Merry Xmas everyone!!
I desperately need some help/advice...
For the last few years, me anfd my hubby have struggled with money, he works and I stay at home with the children, I have not worked full time since 2001. We have claimed benefits to help out but then they clobber us for overpayments. The largest is a £3500 from our last councilfor an overpayment of housing benefit wgich was actually their mistake, I have come to an arrangement to pay back at £5 a week, but we constantly seems to be in debt.
I need to know some simple things:
1. Is there any benefits I can claim now? We only receive tax credits cos hubby works
2. What is the best way to deal with people or companies that we owe money to?
3. How do we keep our heads above water, especially after christmas?
Any help really would be appreciated!!

"Especially after christmas" wouldn't be too much of a problem unless you've overspent etc.............
You need to post your statement of affairs for people, post your total outgoings and your total income and you will be able to get some help here0 -
You really need to post your statement of affairs. In the short term look at your priority debts and get them paid first. Then if there is any left over pay no priority debts, even if it is just a very small amount. This will show willing and give you some breathing space.
Please do post your income/outgoing asap, cos then you will get lots of help and advice.A case of beer has 24 cans. There are 24 hours in a day...............Coincidence?0 -

Angel, I don't know how much you are in debt to and to whom. What I would suggest is that you sit down with every "debit" and see how much you owe. Priorities are obviously keeping a roof over your heads, council tax, utility bills etc. Look at any store card debit and see if you can move them to a cheaper card as store card APR's etc are horiffic. Check out utility saving sites you might be able to share a bit of your gas/electric bills. If you can't afford to pay people then I'd suggest you sort help with the CAB as they might be able to help you.Keeping companies you owe money to in the picture should be done. As for what benefits you can get check out to see if your local council has a benefits advice dept - I know my council does plus the neighbouring one.0

I get the feeling that you need more than just money making ideas. Give us an outline of the problems. Solutions to debt are not just making more money. There are other things that can be done to make the journey easier.A case of beer has 24 cans. There are 24 hours in a day...............Coincidence?0
