Defrosting pork/recipes

Hi,
I bought a joint of pork a few weeks ago and froze it. I've never bought pork before so don't really know what to do with it! Its huge so am going to defrost it for 24 hours in the fridge to be sure its okay. Is that the right way to do it
I'm going to put some of it in my slow cooker and do a stew. What do i do with the other part? Any ideas will be great, but please note that I cannot cook to save my life! Well, unless it goes in the microwave
lol. But am hoping this will help me to learn!
Thanks.

If I ever see a pork shoulder joint reduced/on special offer - I always go for 24 hour slow roasted pork.....it's gorgeous and your house will smell sublime!!:p
No cooking skills needed as such - quick marinade to make then bob it in the oven at about 130 degrees and relax......
The cooked meat freezes very well too - and it,s very versatile (and quite healthy too - as all the fat renders out during the cooking ....never goes to waste though cos OH loves his dripping!!!)
Think the original idea was from River cafe - but Nigella has a version too, and I did find another version which goes under the name of 'Donnie Brasco Pork'I can post the proper recipes when I get home if you like....;)
