Never mind asking the IFA , you need to be asking yourself questions.

What standard of living do i want when im older?
IS what im doing going to give me what I want when im older?
    Do I have enough ready?
Am I and/or my family financially secure in the meantime ?

I asked myself these questions, and discussed them with the IFA when I took out the plan, although the answer to "IS what im doing going to give me what I want when im older?" seems to be "it depends on how your investments grow".

Last year I went through a lengthy process of interviewing 4 IFAs before choosing the one who had seemed to be most thorough. Feedback from this forum suggests I should be concerned about this IFA's approach so I want to make sure that when I go with another IFA I don't have similar problems. Hence my questions: what should I be asking an IFA, and what answers should I be looking for? It's about assessing their approach/competence not about my investment aims. I'm clear about those.

Not quite sure how you can be clear about your investment aims and objectives yet start a thread "are my pension funds too risky?"

Disappointed you obviously missed the fact I was trying to help you.

I'm happy to clarify for you. My investment aim is to achieve a specific level of income when I retire. I'm not particularly interested in exceeding that level of income. I started the thread because I was concerned that the funds my pension contribution is invested in carry an undue (for me) risk that I would not achieve that aim.

    Hope that helps.

Ok, so have you worked out the rate of return needed to achieve your required level of income?
