only 10% deposit so I probably will still end up with 6% interest :mad:0 -
There are people around with lifetime trackers, linked to the BOE base rate, with no collar, that have rates as low as BoE minus 1%. If the Base rate became zero, these people would be paid to keep their mortgage!
I don't remember there ever being a term tracker below base rate, never mind 1% below base. Even in the crazy days of HBOS offering trackers at 0.5% and 1% below base to buy market share they were always only offering them for 2 years at a time . . . and with chunky arrangement fees as well.0 -
Oh yeah they had a few with that option ( more recently + 0.85%) also , suppose you got offset feature as well !!
Yup! Should be able to build that up a bit more now.:)
Only fair that I get a good deal this time round; I took an 8.65% 7 year fix in 1993!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Maybe there weren't any lifetime trackers, when would the 2 years run out? From memory could be next Summer?
I'm pretty happy on BoE+0.75 lifetime tracker, which was tagged on the end of my 4.99% 2 yr fix. I didn't know anything about it til it kicked in:)
I had a similar 'nice surprise'! I have 2 mortgages with the Coventry, one taken out in my previous house for 5 years at 4.25% (which has effectively been below the base rate for the whole of the 5 years apart from since last week!) This one expires on Dec 31st.
The other I took out to finance a move to a bigger house and this was on a base +0.25% for 2 years and expired in September. I thought this was going to revert to svr but discovered it is now tracking base +0.75 for life :j
I have made some bad decisions over the years but Ive done alright with the Coventry!0 -
Mine is -0.13 ish and that was only for 2 years which runs out in a few weeks time. It doesn`t have a floor either. The arrangement fee was £499.0
