Whether she gets contributions based depends on 2006-7 NI contributions. If they weren't enough, she'd have to claim income based and how much she'd get depends on what you earn.
She would be able to claim if she worked 15hrs a week but she would still have to be looking for work and go sign on.0 -
Thank you ...earnings in tht year chudnt b a problem....do u know if jobseekers allowance is counted as income re working tax credit...its not for this year but next...0

First to claim JSA(C) needs to be looking for full time work, parents can put more flexibilities on the hours available for work due to childcare needs as long as the work she's applying fits into the work pattern she has stated but needs to be 16hrs or more for her JSAG
Second you can't claim Working Tax Credits & her JSA at same time (may have mis understood above sorry if thats not your question)
Third she's not entitled to claim Income Support if can't get JSA, wouldn't fall into any of the eligiblity reasons0 -

Will she qualify for JSA? She has paid some NI ths tax year..but nt sure how much. AFAIK JSA eligibility depends on previous 2 yrs NI payments so that means april 2006-april 2007 and april 2007-april 2008 and it's the number of weeks paid that are important.
Can she stipluate tht she only wants a partime job....and if so..and she only gets say 15 hrs a week...wud she stil qualify? I doubt it, it certainly wouldn't be in her best interests to do so - but she can specify hours she can do to work around childcare commitments I would think.
If she only gets 15hrs a week then she would earn more than the 60 jsa anyway and so no longer qualify. (After a small allowance it gets reduced £ for £ ) although she might want to still sign on for her NI if she's not earning enough to pay it in her job.
TIA

Thanks for replies...all helps...the reason for the tax credit question ..really relates to a possible claim from next april, when hopefully she wont be unemployed..and if JSA is treated as income..so included in an earnings figure for year ended April 2009..for a claim 2009/100
