My HALVE IT Challenge!!

Okay, I have set myself a challenge to HALVE everything I possibly can... Ones I've tried so far, without any noticeable difference to the end result, are:
  1. shampoo/conditioner
  2. washing up liquid
  3. washing tablets
  4. grocery budget (switched from "brands" to "value" items)
  5. Time in the shower
  6. length of time our heating is on (finally sussed the timer thing!)
  7. cooking time (now cook two or three double-portion "one pot" meals at the weekend and freeze for reheating during the week)
I'm going to phone my mobile phone provider (as I know I'm long overdue for an upgrade, but I don't need it) and see if I can halve my monthly contract. If not, might go PAYG.

I'd love to try half a dishwasher tablet - but how do you cut them in half - they're like little bricks!!!

As I'm the one who usually makes my OH's cups of coffee, I'm going to start using a little less each time and see if he notices ;)

Anyone else got any "halving" tips?!!!

I've done the coffee one with DH too hehe also with his sugar but he caught me LOL
You could try using half the amount of marg on a sandwich, toothpaste, perfume sprays, any cleaning product, ooh can't think of any more!
I could do with halving the time I spend on here!!!

Looking forward to reading more tips!

  • yup, next cleaning day I'm going to use half the squirts of spray I used to. Oh, I also only half fill the washing up bowl for pans, etc.

Great post! I feel inspired!- biscuits eaten with cup of tea (in my case this would mean having 2 rather than 4)- stamps (or rather downgrade to 2nd class esp for xmas post)- amounst spent on presents for xmas and birthdays(??)May think of more later!
  • Ooo let me think, like the coffee one you could use 1 teabag per two cups. Ive noticed on the oldstyle board some people make their milk last longer by adding water in it. My little uns wouldnt like that though. And apparently if you squeeze the loo roll when its on the holder you dont use as much so your rolls would last longer. Now i tried this and yeah seemed to stop the kiddies yanking loads off each time but i noticed it kept springing back to its usually shape??? A day or so later my DH came down from paying a visit and he said 'did you buy a dud batch of loo roll this time? There all squashed Ive had to keep reshaping them' :rotfl: I had to tell him and he said STOP IT!

mmmm cant think of any more just yet, will pop back if i do!
Just a mum trying to make things happen!
