It seems as if the new moderator of the PCI ranks the PMS high on his list of priorities which must be a good thing.

Yeah I heard the Moderator Elect on Radio Ulster this morning and I thought he sounded quite good but he will certainly need the wisdom of Solomon.
We need to continue to pray for him and for all those in positions of authority.

Thanks for the Press Cuttings.
The Coleraine Times one is, in my opinion, a particularly good interview with Dr David Clarke, minister at Terrace Row Church in Coleraine. He says "When a disaster like this happens, one, you help the people who are hurting and two, further down the line, you ask how it happened."
Thumbs up to the Rev Dr Clarke.

It would appear that I am now talking to myself.
If anyone would like to commend and encourage the Rev Dr David Clarke regarding his expressed views in this weeks Coleraine Times he can be emailed on dclarke@presbyterianireland.org
I have discovered that contact details for Ministers can be got from Church House via an email to info@presbyterianireland.org
Please may I encourage you to opt for the "carrot rather than the stick" as much as possible if you are emailing any of the ministers i.e. send words of encouragement to those who publicly say the kinds of things that we want to hear more of.

"carrot rather than the stick"

Agree, I had some very jumbled thoughts in the same vein in the shower this morning!

We know that PCI are very keen [and legally correct] to not be linked to PMS, so rather than backing them into a corner, perhaps the solution regarding them providing asset security against bailout money could be presented in such a way as them being seen to take the moral and helpful high ground. i.e. they look like they are doing good for the sake of their congregations by providing the means for a rescue plan. Sorry, this is still a bit muddled, hope you can all understand what I am getting at.
• For joylikes2shop [and others] the present endeavours/activities of the administrator, the past endeavours/activities of the Directors and the endeavours/activities [?] of DETI in monitoring the remit of PMS will come under scrutiny after the present petition to Number 10 and general publicity has run its course.

Everyone (politicians, PCI, PMS savers) seems to be throwing all their efforts into the Number 10 petition and lobbying Gordon Brown and Treasury.

Do you think there is any chance of them bailing us out?

Church sources claim there is a general investment fund worth £43m and an estimated £20m in other reserves. The church has other assets — a site in Lucan, near Dublin, is valued at between £4m and £6m." The Sunday TimesDecember 28, 2008 Liam Clarke

A lot of attention seems to be directed towards the Directors, who I understand were not paid, other than basic expenses, where does the Secretary, who was/is the paid manager of the Society fit in?

Unless he was an "officer" of the company he has no liability to shareholders - he was definitely not a director but could have been the registered company secretary which does carry legal responsibilities. This could be confirmed by company house filings.
