Desperate damage limitation exercise methinks!
The two Donald's have done irreparable harm to the Presbyterian Church0 -
I've no new links to cut and paste here but thought I'd let you know my thoughts for today on the PMS situation.
Whilst I do believe that some forum specifically for PMS investors would be a great help, the more I look into the logistics of a public meeting of those affected, the more overwhelming and complicated a 'Q&A' session seems to be.
You may already have worked this out, but if one venue was to be made available for a meeting of all PMS investors, it would need to be at least the size of Belfasts Odyssey Arena. Not only would this probably cost a fortune, but because of the size of the Arena not many individuals would have an opportunity to ask questions, so I now wonder what purpose a meeting on this scale would serve.
Secondly, because not everyone has access to the internet, regularly reads the local newspapers or visits this site, letters would need to be posted to investors (using snail mail !),giving adequate notice of any meetings-which further adds to the complications and time scales.
If anyone -ANYONE- knows of any web site that other PMS investors have set up in order to exchange information, please list it here in order that we can all stay in touch.Sorry to sound so needy/desperate but there seems to be very little info around at the moment.0 -
Joylikestoshop - thank you for all your information - really appreciated - I have tried for a while to get on to this site -
Anyway i have thought too about a Public Meeting but the cost and logistics would be quite hard to manage.
My thought was to keep lobbying our local Government to ensure our voices are kept out there to see if we could get the security from Treasury. At the end of the day - the money that was lifted out ie £21 million or so has probably been deposited in safer banks and Institutions in NI. Also PCI seems to be trying to do something now - perhaps we need to keep our voices heard with them as well.
I'm thinking of a rally or something! What do you think?0 -
If someone refuses to pay you money that you own, and you comply with the conditions for withdrawal..........seems a lot like theft to me?
Please can anyone here explain the special conditions pertaining to administration?
MFI is also in administration and their customers have been promised their cash back very soon if they do not receive their goods.
It would be interesting to test the links between the PCI and PMS in law.
Years of encouragement to save, in 2004 75% of congregations involved in saving or borrowing, see http://www.accessmylibrary.com/coms2/summary_0286-20796534_ITM
all the links on PCI website which the PCI has since tried to remove, adverts in the Herald, supportive resolutions at the General Assembly, email addresses, same office until 2 years ago........etc etc.
I say wind the whole thing up and let the PCI pay up the shortfall.
The PCI will be wrecked after this anyway, they can sell off a few redundant churches and manses to pay for it.0 -
Does anyone know why spotlight has not been on IPlayer?
Yes. According to the reply I received from Spotlight:Thank you for email inquiring about the Spotlight programme on the Presbyterian Mutual Society. There was a technical problem in London that prevented the November 25th broadcast of that programme being captured for iPlayer.
We had hoped that the programme could be captured during the second, November 26th broadcast, but unfortunately that wasn't possible and it did not appear on the iPlayer.0 -
Following a couple of requests I have set up a blog dedicated to the exchange of information about the PMS situation.
Please do not use it to post abusive or libellous comments about any individuals or groups.
I created the blog to facilitate the constructive exchange of information, ideas and suggestions and to enable those affected to try to help each other.

I will post some of the results of my personal investigations on PMSConcern soon.
Those of my contacts who have been working on convening a public forum have now finalised details for a meeting of people who are interested in helping their fellow investors cope with what I fear will be difficult times ahead. Full details of venue and how to register an interest should appear tomorrow.0 -
