  • Oops sorry about that link. Thanks BallyBlack.
Check out William Crawley's blog. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/ni/2009/01/silence_in_church_house.html)
One guy seems to know what he's talking about in the comments - we need him on our side.
  • Hi there, I'm from the "other side of the fence" but I am appalled at the way your community has been blighted by this. I really hope you manage to retrieve the funds asap from those that undoubtedly profited from this whole thing. It would be nice to identify them and have them named and shamed, to start with! I read that CF led investors to believe the money was safe with the congregation. Therefore would it be possible that indeed the property deal that went wrong was arranged by a member of the congregation (albeit on a grand scale)? This loss will really will cause terrible anguish and heart break. I have signed the petition and will ask friends and family to do so.
  • I've passed these forum details unto all my younger mates who are directly or whose parents are affected by this mess, so hopefully the news will get about. I've signed the Newsletter.Downing St petition & hope to get my parents set up with an e-mail address to ensure they can also sign. Biggest achievement getting my mother to sit in front of a computer to read this blog, now at least she knows she's not facing this alone - a big comfort. What else can be done??!!!
  • Can somebody repost the Newsletter petition link please, I'd like to sign - not affected but am appalled at the PCI's attitude in washing its hands of this.

Suggest it might be helpful to have the petition links appear on each page, so that muppets like me and newbies can find and sign easily.
  • Yes, I would reiterate the fact that I was told lies in the MIDDLE of October by the secretary as well.

In hindsight it looks as if the lies were a serious attempt at a cover-up.
  • I think it's vital that we are all made aware of what happened to the director's investments after June 2008. This information should be made freely available because if they, any PMS staff, or anyone connected to them withdrew their investments because of inside knowledge then surely that is at least totally unethical and probably illegal.

I think that it is essential that the petition to make PCI accept their responsibility goes alongside the petitions to government. If the Treasury do agree to help in this situation then PCI will walk away totally free of any consequences for the mess they have created and the distress they have caused to so many.

My copy of the report still hasn't arrived today!!
  • Having read all your thoughts. Does the PCI know something that we do not know.
Is that the reason they are so silent?

No I think PCI are keeping quiet in the hope no one asks any more awkward questions and all the "trouble-makers" will shut up and go away. If you have savings with PMS, don't let it happen.

    hi ya

I would be interested to know your thoughts on how you think PCI have dealt with this situation and if they have done all they can to help their members ?

Goodness, I wouldn't presume to have knowledge about it. One thing that saddened me was a previous poster who explained his mum was a casualty and as a result hadn't been to church for 3 months.Really I suppose it goes back to the thing that religion and money shouldn't mix, as far as I remember Jesus thought so too! It puts the church and ministers in a terrible position, I would guess this has been caused by a few rogues at the PMS.

If these rogues have acted outside the terms of the remit (eg. by lending to non presbyterians or by failing to take the necessary safeguards) then there may be legal address to make them personally liable.

Who benefited from all this, whatever their religion? Can they be chased?
  • In the Petitions "Terms & Conditions"

Please note that to keep the system manageable, and justify use of resources, we can usually only respond to serious petitions of 200 signatures or more

Currently on 39.. bit of a way to go yet... Please spread the word

Quick update - there are now over 200 signatures(210 !!! :j ) which therfore requires a response from No.10 ! I'm still of the opinion that signing this petition will not really help PMS investors, but it wont do any harm so keep signing !!! If nothing else we can see that we're not alone.
