If you left a job with a local authority in the last few months (or another organisation that has the same pay terms and conditions) then you can write to them and ask to have your increase in living allowance backdated from April 08.

For example, I left my job in a local authority at the end of July 08 so I'll get the extra pay from April, May, June and July.

This is because the settlement has only just been negotiated so I didn't get the extra in my pay packet while I working there.

You do have to initiatite it yourself and send an email to your old payroll or write a letter.

Could be hundreds of pounds! :j
