How do you react to an emotional shock?

Hi guys,
I was watching tv last night and a girl was saying that whenever she gets a shock she always immediately feels very tired and goes to sleep. That got me thinking and lately, for one reason or another, I have been getting quite a few shocks.
I have now realised that with me, my adrenalin immediately kicks in and I become very proactive and extremely passionate about pursuing or defending whatever it is according to the shock. Then as soon as I feel I have the situation sorted or there's nothing more I can do, my mind and body goes all out of sorts and I generally don't feel well at all. Nothing specific, I just don't feel well mentally or physically generally. After a few days I am okay again. How does an emotional shock affect you?

Depending on the shock, I can get very ill indeed. I usually go completely off food, leaving me feeling weak, lethargic etc. I also get the feeling of adrenaline and doing everything I can to 'get over' the shock, but afterwards, have trouble getting up and about and feeling 'meaning' with anything else. Of course, depends on the shock! I find it very interesting how outside things can have such an effect on someone physiologically...

I tend to feel very nauseous (sp?). Even when I was 6 and my mum got hurt on holiday in Majorca, I threw up. Not quite as bad now but I hate that sick feeling.0

Shock slows the brain waves to the alpha state which is a rather dreamy state and so it doesnt take much to get to the theta state where sleep occursWho I am is not important. What I do is.0
