Storing the summer duvet?
Options

SmlSave

I've now got my nice warm winter duvet and need to store the summer one. I've got myself a vacum storage bag to put it in but want to keep it smelling fresh - any ideas?
I did think that i might wash it before storing but found that it won't fit in my m/c!

I think you have to wash it before storing Smlsave - can you take it to the launderette?
The vacuum packs are great, they save so much space - mine you have to open every 4-5 months and shake stuff around then repack0 -
Perhaps you could stick some lavender in with it? Either way i'd give it a good airing before you use it again0

What about using a tumble drier sheet in with the vacuum bag, that will make it smell lovely.0

Why not put it under your undersheet and use it as an extra snugly layer.0

I take mine to the laundrette as it has larger machines, its a drag but I usually take all the quilts together early in the morning and do them at the same time. Storing stuff without washing beforehand encourages moths to lay eggs
Once washed, I would also recommend storing with a lavendar bag - lavendar naturally discourages moths too. Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

benny that is exactly what I have done for the first time this year, after reading about it on this Board - fantastic!! Wish someone had told me years ago.......:-)"Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -
I was just going to say, mine is still on my bed along with my winter duvet!
But then again the summer one is only 4.5 togs (winter's 13.5 though!)
Bedding equivalent to building a den for hibernation perhaps? heh.On the up

I moved into this house 2 years ago and treated us to an 'all-seasons duvet' combination. At the moment, we have the thicker duvet on by itself, whilst holding back on adding the summer one to it until around New Year for Jan/Feb.
Last year though, we only did that for about a week as we found it quite 'suffocating' - just not used to the thickness of them both together. Should imagine though that it's ideal for somebody who sleeps alone.0
