I've never had this problem before, but Ebay is not allowing me to set a reserve below £50.

I've just found this:* On eBay.co.uk, sellers who wish to use a reserve price must set the reserve price to be equal to or greater than £50.00. It is not permissible to set a reserve price level to be less than £50.00.
That's crap.
What about Ebay.com?Happy chappy0 -
Looks like another punative ebay.co.uk "feature".
I can't think of any reason for why the UK site has this rule - as you say, doesn't look like it applies on ebay.com, and also not on ebay.de

I've just listed my item via .com and it allows any reserve you want.
Maybe it's because the fees start stacking up nicely above £50?Happy chappy0 -

This changed to £50 in August 2004. Another great move by ebay to rack up their commission.
All it does is encourage sellers to set low prices and shill bid, but then ebay don't care, only about their cut.

I can't think of any good reason not to allow lower reserves. I'm not making excuses for shill bidders, but some of ebay's policies, like the £50 minimum for reserves, do encourage them. I recently sold something for a very disappointing price, and it is frustrating.0

I was not aware you could set a reserve lower than £50 on ebay .com. Whenever I see a listing with 'reserve not met' I never bother bidding as it is obvious to me the seller wants more than £50.00 - if you use Ebay.com to set a lower reserve then some potential buyers may not bid as they are unaware of the .com rules ???? How can I tell if the listing has been listed on Ebay.com or Ebay.co.uk ??I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0

It's been set at £50 for a while now.
Just put your start price in as the lowest figure you''l take for the item/items....same effect.
mikeif i had known then what i know now0 -
It's not the same though, a low starting price attracts bids.Happy chappy0

I think it's pretty stupid to even have reserves on Ebay uk or com. I just won't bid if it is a reserved listing whatever the price showing, it's just a waste of my time.....tell me what the minimum is you are prepared to accept (starting bid) or I walk away.0
